St. Helena College and Career Academy Robotics Club to Attend GLOBE Student Research Symposium in Tyler, Texas
Greensburg, LA - The robotics team from St. Helena College and Career Academy will represent our school district at the GLOBE Student Research Symposium (SRS) at the University of Texas in Tyler, TX. This event will include poster presentations of student research, an opportunity to meet and talk with scientists and STEM professionals, professional development for educators, and networking and collaboration opportunities for all participants.
Members of the team will present their proposal entitled, "Watt's About Clouds" in front of their peers and science professionals. Their plan is to collect data from clouds through visual observations and satellite fly-overs to determine the number of kilowatts produced from an array of solar modules. Their investigation aims to discover which cloud cover has the most watts. Results from their research will be presented at NASA's Infinity Center in Mississippi during the 2024 Southeast Student Symposium.
The all-expense paid trip is sponsored by our community partners at Demco and the GLOBE Program. St. Helena College and Career Academy and Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy from Jefferson Parish are the only two schools representing the entire Southeast Region.
