St. Helena Parish School District and National Nonprofit DonorsChoose Announce New Partnership
GREENSBURG, LA, December 20, 2021 - St. Helena Parish School District announced today a new partnership with the national nonprofit DonorsChoose to help teachers tap into a network of 4 million donors to support classroom projects and more seamlessly align with district strategy and operations. St. Helena Parish School District will join the nonprofit's Equity Acceleration Initiative, a select cohort of some of the most innovative and equity-focused districts in the country looking to do even more for their students through DonorsChoose.
Teachers in St. Helena Parish School District have raised $22,000 and completed over 60 projects on DonorsChoose. These projects vary from books to laptops and other tools to enhance the learning environment and support student success.
“St. Helena Parish School District is excited to announce a partnership with DonorsChoose,” said St. Helena Parish School District Superintendent Kelli Joseph. “It opens up new opportunities for teachers to fund projects that will help them provide the kind of educational experiences our students need to be prepared to thrive in the 21st Century. By partnering with DonorsChoose, we can better support St. Helena Parish School District teachers who are creating lessons that increase students’ excitement about coming to school every day.”
As one of the 300+ members of the DonorsChoose District Partnership Program, St. Helena Parish School District will be able to fully support teachers in the use of the platform, ensure safety and security, and align efforts with the district’s strategic priorities. St. Helena Parish School District will be able to monitor all donated materials, principals will be notified each time a project is funded, and receive early notification when there are new “match” funding opportunities.
