GREENSBURG, Louisiana – The St. Helena Parish School Board and the St. Helena Association of Educators (SHAE) ratified an eight-year contract during its January 2020 Regular School Board Meeting. The new contract will take effect on July 1, 2020 and end June 30, 2028.
“This is a really good contract. It is a huge win for employees as well as the Board. The process was very productive, and I enjoyed working with Ms. Clark, union president,” Joseph said.
Highlights of the contract include a new article section for non-certified employees, revisions to the grievance process, and fine-tuned language throughout the entire document that reflect new legislative laws.
St. Helena is one of only five school districts in the state with a collective bargaining agreement. This speaks to the mutual respect of all whose responsibility is to educate children.
