HUMAN RESOURCES/PARENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
The ultimate goal of the Human Resources/Parent Services Department is to provide our students with well-trained and well-motivated teachers and staff. The department is also responsible for listening to parent concerns and provide them with the supports needed to address any of their concerns.
Louisiana offers ancillary certificates to applicants holding degrees or credentials in a specialized area such as school nurse, social worker, speech therapist, school psychologist, etc. The guidelines and application form for each type of ancillary certificate are included in the ancillary application packet.
Louisiana allows applicants to add degrees, request name changes, add teaching endorsements, renew, reinstate, or extend certificates, move to higher certificates, request evaluations and course approvals, and freeze validity (non-practicing and operational role status) on certificates. When a complete application is received, a determination will be made regarding the requested action. If additional information is needed or a deficiency exists, the applicant or the applicant's employing school system will be notified via the online portal.
The Educational Leader (EDL) certificate is needed by those who fill school and district educational leadership positions (e.g., assistant principal, principal, parish or city supervisor of instruction, supervisor of child welfare and attendance, special education supervisor, or comparable school/district leader positions).
Louisiana offers two types of teaching certificates to applicants holding a standard out-of-state teaching certificate. Both are valid certificates and make the holder eligible for a teaching assignment in a Louisiana classroom. The certificate that is issued to the applicant depends on whether or not the applicant has met Louisiana’s Praxis and/or NTE testing requirements.
Out of State Administrative Application
Louisiana offers three types of administrative certificates to applicants holding out-of-state educational leader licenses. All three allow the individual to hold administrative assignments in a Louisiana school district.

All individuals employed on or after January 1, 2013 are required to read and sign this attestation form. La. R.S. 11:293 provides for the forfeiture of retirement benefits by a public employee or elected official (hired or beginning service on or after January 1, 2013) convicted of a “public corruption crime.”
Your earnings from this job are not covered under Social Security. When you retire, or if you become disabled, you may receive a pension based on earnings from this job.
Print in ink or type all entries except signatures. Incomplete or altered forms will be returned. The following beneficiary designation(s) will replace all previous choices.
Complete Form W-4 so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay. Consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or financial situation changes.
Complete form L-4 so that your employer can withhold the correct amount of state income tax from your salary.
Update or renew your teaching certificate by downloading the attached document. Submit the forms to the Human Resources Department once complete.
For teachers enrolled in an alternative certification program.
For Teachers that have satisfied all the requirements for certification with the exception of passing the Praxis.
