Head Volleyball Coach, Katrina Dotson
Coach Katrina Dotson is a coach who helps make the transition from full-time athletic to a successful coach. A dean of students now, I started my coaching career in 2001 to help other athletes deal with the sometimes overwhelming prospect of coaching a girl’s basketball team while still running a household and teaching Health and PE. Prior to raising my family, I spent over fifth-teen years as a teacher, basketball coach and sports trainer.
Today, I spend time as a dean of students and coaching volleyball and basketball. My career started when I was 5th grade playing Jr. High basketball and high school basketball. I graduated from Jefferson County High School MVP with a Athletic Scholarship to Copiah - Lincoln Community College where I played basketball and volleyball where I got inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame, MVP of the MACJC All-Star Game and Regional 23 All-State, MVP, and second team All-American and twice named MACJC Second Team All –State and NJCAA Region XXIII All-American. I then signed to Southern University where I was named SWAC Newcomer of the Year, and First team All SWAC and called second round pick to Washington Mystics of the WNBA. I later beginned my caching career at Jefferson County coaching girls basketball for six years and moved to coaching boys and was the first female to coach boys basketball and finished 2nd placed all district my first year with them. After graduating from Alcorn State University I went on teaching and coaching and now here at the Great!
